‘When Kids Come Out’ for Parents of LGBT Children Begins Oct. 15
The five sessions of the series “When Kids Come Out” will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning October 15 and continuing through November 12, starting at 7:00 p.m. and concluding by 8:30 p.m. When a child comes out to his/her parents, what does that mean for the family? The focus of these sessions includes: providing support and encouragement to a child who comes out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, navigating relationships in the local congregation in which the parents participate after a child has come out, and coming out as parents of an LGBT child to other family members and friends, and those in the church. The Rev. Jim Waugh, a retired United Methodist pastor, will lead the group in conversation.
